In 2000, Caitlin Applegate earned a BFA in Printmaking and Ceramics from the Hartford Art School in West Hartford, CT. After several years of independent study and teaching; including a year of study in Anchorage, AK and a short residency at the Mendocino Art Center in Northern, CA, Caitlin moved to Lincoln, NE. In 2007, Caitlin earned an MFA from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. After finishing her graduate study, Caitlin went on to work as an artist in residence at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha, NE. Also in the fall of 2007, Caitlin was awarded an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant.

After leaving Nebraska in late 2008, Caitlin moved to Upstate NY where she maintained an active studio practice in addition to teaching at SUNY Cortland and at the Cornell Ceramics Studio. In the year following, Caitlin commuted from the Bronx to work as a Visiting Assistant Professor in ceramics at the School of Visual Arts at the Penn State University Park Campu. Presently, Caitlin is a resident artist at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester, NY where she works and teaches.

Caitlin’s work has been exhibited both regionally and nationally; including solo and group shows at the Clay Studio in Philadelphia, The Leedy Voulkos Art Center in Kansas City, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and the Sheldon Museum of Art in Nebraska.
